Affiliate Disclosure

What we earn from

Some links on Tradewinds Brief are affiliate links. When you click through and complete a transaction with the linked provider, we may earn a commission. The price you pay does not change.

We currently maintain affiliate relationships with money-transfer providers (notably Wise, via Partnerize), and we may add additional providers in travel, financial services, and education over time. Each relationship will be disclosed here.

How we choose providers

The order in which we list providers, and the providers we choose to cover, are based on diaspora utility, transparency of pricing, and consistency of service — not on commission rates. A provider that pays us nothing can still rank above a provider that pays us well; this happens routinely on our remittance comparison pages.

When a provider that has been negotiating with us asks for editorial favourability in exchange for a deal, we decline the deal.

Why we tell you this

The affiliate-link economy on the internet is mostly opaque. Many publications place affiliate links without telling readers what they are, or rank providers based on payout rather than utility. We do not work that way and we want to be plain about that.

Specifics, currently

Wise — we are a Wise Partnerize publisher (publisher ID 1101l428373, camref 1100l5JPtq). We chose to list Wise prominently on remittance comparison pages because its mid-market rates consistently outperform high-street providers on the corridors we cover. We would list Wise in this position whether the affiliate relationship existed or not.
