Bahamian authorities have inspected and approved 16 shelters across Grand Bahama for the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, which runs through November 30. Officials reminded residents that a mandatory evacuation order stays in effect for East Grand Bahama during threatening storms, with Maurice Moore Primary School designated as the East Grand Bahama shelter.

The Disaster Risk Management Authority, the Department of Meteorology, and the Public Hospitals Authority are the official channels for preparedness updates, coordinated through the Grand Bahama Incident Command Center.
