Belize Takes CDB Board Chairmanship and Secures $20.2 Million Climate Grant

Belize assumed the chairmanship of the Caribbean Development Bank’s Board of Governors and secured BZ$20.2 million in grant financing for climate resilience and disaster preparedness, announced during the bank’s 56th annual meeting. The chairmanship gives Belize an outsized voice in setting regional development-finance priorities this year.

The practical read for the diaspora is risk-reduction at home: grant-funded resilience spending targets the flood and storm exposure that repeatedly drives emergency remittance flows. It also lifts Belize’s profile as it prepares to host a major regional finance conference for the first time.
