Belize Takes CDB Chairmanship and Secures BZ$20.2 Million for Climate Resilience
Belize has assumed the Chairmanship of the Caribbean Development Bank’s Board of Governors and secured BZ$20.2 million in grant financing to strengthen climate resilience and disaster preparedness, announced during the CDB’s 56th Annual Meeting.
The role places Belize at the center of regional development-finance decisions at a moment when small states are pressing lenders for faster, more flexible support against climate and commodity shocks. The grant is earmarked for resilience and preparedness rather than recurrent spending.
What this means for you: the chairmanship gives Belize a louder voice on regional financing terms, and the grant targets the infrastructure and planning that reduce disaster losses over time.
