Crossfire: West Indies open the Sri Lanka ODI series at Sabina Park
Sri Lanka are in the Caribbean for three ODIs, three T20Is and two Tests. The desk previews the Kingston opener.
Yardman (Jamaica): Sri Lanka at Sabina, and it’s my house. First of three ODIs, then three T20s, then Test cricket up at North Sound. Home crowd, home noise — if our openers stand up, the islanders feel it early.
Cheryl (Barbados): “If.” That word carries this team, Yardman. I’ll judge the batting when someone bats fifty overs with intent. White-ball runs are nice; I’m waiting on the Tests on the 25th, where it actually counts.
Leroy (Trinidad): Always the funeral march with you, Cheryl. It’s Kingston, the lights, a crowd that came to be loud — this is where the Windies remember they’re entertainers. Watch the powerplay. Sri Lanka’s spinners will choke the middle if we go quiet.
Yardman: We won’t go quiet at Sabina. We never do.
De Statsman: The fixtures, plainly — 1st ODI today at Sabina Park, 09:30 local; the 2nd and 3rd on June 6 and 8; T20Is from June 11; the two-Test series opens at North Sound on June 25. Three formats, one tour, and plenty of rope for everyone at this table to be proven both right and wrong.
