Dominica Pushes Geothermal Power and a New Airport on Citizenship Cash
Dominica is channeling strong Citizenship by Investment revenues into two flagship projects — a new international airport and geothermal energy development — after the economy grew an estimated 4.6% in 2024 on a tourism rebound. The infrastructure push aims to fix the island’s biggest growth ceiling: limited air access. But the backdrop is sobering. The US has trimmed visa validity for Dominican passport holders amid CBI scrutiny, and World Bank survey data flags real food insecurity, with about one in five respondents reporting going a full day without food. For the diaspora, Dominica is a country investing its passport income in long-term capacity while its passport’s global value faces fresh pressure.
