Dominica’s Citizenship Revenue Funds an Airport and Geothermal as Food Costs Bite

1 min read

Dominica’s economy has been buoyed by strong Citizenship by Investment revenues, helping finance a new international airport and geothermal energy development, with tourism arrivals above pre-pandemic levels and growth estimated near the mid-single digits. The gains sit alongside a persistent vulnerability: roughly one in five survey respondents reported going a whole day without food in the previous month, with food insecurity weighing most on young people and rural residents. The mix captures Dominica’s balancing act — converting volatile CBI inflows into durable infrastructure while shielding households exposed to high import and food prices.
