Ghana's reform panel sends term-limit and governance changes to Cabinet

Ghana’s Constitutional Review Committee has completed its work and submitted recommendations to Cabinet after nationwide consultations, President John Mahama told a civil-society forum in Accra, with proposals reportedly including an independent Emoluments Commission, reforms to ministerial appointments from Parliament, and extending elected terms from four to five years. Mahama stressed the process would stay transparent and inclusive, with the government’s position to follow once Cabinet finishes its review. For the Ghanaian diaspora, the package signals a potentially significant reshaping of how the Fourth Republic governs, still some distance from the parliamentary amendment stage.
