Ghana Shifts Its Republic Day Holiday to Friday, July 3

Ghana’s Interior Ministry, acting on an Executive Instrument from President John Mahama, has moved the statutory Republic Day observance from July 1 to Friday, July 3, creating a unified long weekend. The adjustment is legally backed under the Public Holidays Act and applies nationwide. For diaspora Ghanaians coordinating calls, remittance timing and travel, the practical note is that offices and banks follow the Friday date. It is a small administrative item with real scheduling consequences.
