Grenada calls its diaspora home for two weeks in June — with an investment forum and a duty-free welcome
Grenada’s first Diaspora Homecoming runs 21 June to 5 July, deliberately timed to school holidays and the run-up to Spice Mas. The programme pairs cultural events and an awards gala with a National Investment and Business Forum across tourism, agriculture, renewable energy, technology and real estate, plus a 28 June Spice Replanting Day to rebuild nutmeg and spice groves lost to Hurricane Beryl.
Officials are explicit that this is a development strategy, not just nostalgia — an attempt to convert diaspora skills, networks and capital into long-term engagement, with the aim of making it an annual event.
What this means for you: Beyond the celebration, two things are concrete and worth acting on: the investment forum is a low-friction way to scout real opportunities directly with officials, and Grenadians abroad for seven-plus years can claim a 100% duty-free concession on personal effects — valuable if a return is anywhere on your horizon. Confirm the concession’s paperwork with the ministry before shipping.
