  • Quote us, with attribution, in academic, journalistic, and personal contexts
  • Forward our newsletter to friends and family in its original form

What requires our written permission

  • Republishing an article in whole or in substantial part on another website, in a commercial newsletter, or in any commercial publication

How to request permission

Email permissions@tradewindsbrief.com with what you want to use, where it will appear, and the audience. We respond personally and typically within a week. Republication of substantial work usually requires a formal licensing arrangement; smaller permissions are often free with attribution.

Contributor work

Submitted contributor work, including photography and illustration, may be licensed to us rather than assigned. Contributors retain their underlying rights unless otherwise specified in a written agreement. See our Submission Guidelines for current practice.

Third-party content

Where we publish third-party content under fair use, licensing arrangement, or with permission, attribution is provided in the piece itself. Those rights belong to the rights-holder, not to us.

DMCA and equivalent claims

If you believe content on Tradewinds Brief infringes a copyright you hold, write to corrections@tradewindsbrief.com with the URL of the alleged infringement, a description of the work allegedly infringed, your contact information, and a statement made in good faith. We respond promptly.
