Winston Anthony Brown

Winston Anthony Brown, known to family and friends as “Tony,” passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026 at his home in Toronto, surrounded by his wife and children. He was 76.
Born in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, on August 5, 1949, Tony was the third of five children of the late Cynthia and Lionel Brown. He attended St. Jago High School and trained as a mechanic at the College of Arts, Science, and Technology before emigrating to Canada in 1973.
For 38 years he ran Brown’s Auto Service on Eglinton Avenue, a fixture of the Caribbean community in Little Jamaica. He was the husband of Marcia Brown (née Reid) for 49 years, and father to Anthony Brown Jr., Sherene Brown-Patterson (Garfield), and Damian Brown. He is survived by seven grandchildren, his sister Pearl Williams (Birmingham, UK), and brothers Lloyd Brown (Spanish Town) and Owen Brown (Kingston).
Tony was a longtime member of the Bethel Apostolic Church (Toronto) and the West Indian Mechanics Association. He coached youth football for 22 years through the Jamaican Canadian Association.
Service
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Bethel Apostolic Church, 1290 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto. Reception to follow.
