We don't report the news. We explain what it means — and show you how it's being spun.

Patriots Portfolio: De Tuesday Catch-Up — Why Smart Money Currently Discussin' De Wales Pipe (As An Asset Class), Three Hotel Stocks To Watch, and Why De Real Investment Move Is Buyin' a Plot in Region 9 *Right Now*

Patriots Portfolio on the Tuesday investment landscape — the Wales gas pipe as a pure-faith asset class, three hotel stocks worth watching, and why every Guyanese with US$2,000 should be buying land in Region 9 before the road from Linden to Lethem actually finishes.

This is satire. Characters and scenarios are fictional. Any resemblance to real persons, statements, or events is used for commentary and entertainment purposes.

Welcome to Patriots Portfolio, your trusted Tuesday investment briefing for de Guyanese investor who got some money but not enough money to call himself rich, and who is very tired of bein’ told he should “diversify” by people who have never lived under a leaky roof.

Bredren and sister, today’s column comin’ to you a little bit out of cycle — usually Patriots Portfolio drop Friday, but catch-up day, and de market is movin’. Let we get into it.

📈 ASSET CLASS ONE: DE WALES GAS PIPE

Ticker symbol: Spiritual.

Price: Free, technically. Conceptually, it has cost de Government of Guyana a reported US$80 million in arbitration settlement (Kaieteur News, April 3, 2026).

Yield: Pending.

Patriots Portfolio analysis: De Wales gas-to-energy pipe has, over de past 60 months, transitioned from “infrastructure project” to “asset class.” It is now somethin’ you believe in. You don’t see it. You don’t use it. You don’t receive dividends from it. You just know it’s comin’. Faith-based investing.

Patriots Portfolio rating: Hold. You can’t sell it because you can’t see it. You can’t buy more because nobody is sellin’ it. Just believe. Believe wid your whole chest. Believe like de pipe believe in you.

🏨 ASSET CLASS TWO: DE HOTEL SECTOR

We had de Four Points by Sheraton officially open dis week. Dat is a real, physical, occupiable hotel. Big deal. Newsroom carried de segment.

But Patriots Portfolio interested in what’s behind it.

Three observations from a Patriots Portfolio standpoint:

1. Every major hotel openin’ in Georgetown over de past 36 months has had Cabinet-level attendance. Dis is a tell. When de government is regularly cuttin’ ribbons at private hotel openin’s, de hotels are not just hotels. Dey are infrastructure. And infrastructure is where de smart money is positionin'.

2. De people who brokered dose hotel deals in 2022 are now de people brokerin’ de next round. De Patriots Portfolio anonymous sources (de same anonymous sources de Rumour Mill use, just on a different day) report that three additional hotel projects are in active negotiation in Georgetown right now. Two of dem are in very visible locations.

3. Hotel + airline + diaspora flight volume + visa application volume — dis is what economists call a thesis. And de thesis is movin'.

Patriots Portfolio rating: Long-term buy if you can get in. Watch and wait if you can’t. Don’t FOMO into a fund dat is not yet listed.

🌅 ASSET CLASS THREE: REGION 9 LAND

Now bredren — dis is de move.

While everybody fightin’ over Section M and Bel Air Park, while de Georgetown property prices doin’ what dey doin’, de quiet money is in Region 9.

Why Region 9:

  1. De Linden-Lethem road, which we all know been “comin’ for 14 years,” has now actually started showin’ progress. Real progress. Bridge work. Pavin’. Equipment that didn’t move for two years is now movin’ weekly.

  2. Once dat road actually finishes, Lethem stop bein’ a remote town. It become de border crossin’ to Brazil. And de border crossin’ to Brazil is suddenly worth a lot more dan de border crossin’ to nowhere.

  3. Brazilian buyers are already lookin’. Quietly. Patriots Portfolio sources (from a different Lethem source) confirm at least three Brazilian families have made discreet inquiries in de past six months.

  4. Land in Region 9 right now is gettin’ valued at — Patriots Portfolio not gonna give you de exact number because dat would be financial advice and Patriots Portfolio is NOT a financial advisor — but let we say less than what you would pay for a small lot in Diamond.

De catch: Title. Title in Region 9 is a long conversation. You need a lawyer who understand Indigenous land claims, leasehold versus freehold, regional commercial zonin’, and how to talk to de regional administration. Don’t go alone. Don’t trust de “I got a friend who got a friend” arrangement. Get paperwork.

Patriots Portfolio rating: Strong buy if you got patience and US$2,000–$15,000. Avoid if you tryin’ to flip it in 18 months. Dis is a 5–8 year play.

💸 ASSET CLASS FOUR: DE GUYANA STOCK EXCHANGE

You been watchin’? Stabroek News reported on the most recent GSE session: $39.6 million in consideration on 154,551 shares across 56 transactions. Active stocks: BDH, DBL, DDL, DTC, BTI, RBL, SPL.

DDL — Demerara Distillers. Always a watch. Always.

DTC — old reliable, slow movin'.

RBL — Republic Bank. Banks are bankin'.

Patriots Portfolio observation: De GSE remain de most underused investment vehicle in de country. Most Guyanese with savings are puttin’ it in Republic Bank fixed deposits at 3-4% when dey could be holdin’ RBL stock and gettin’ both dividends and capital appreciation. Dis is a literacy problem, not a market problem.

Patriots Portfolio recommendation: Open a brokerage account. Even if you only put in $500,000 GYD. Just do it. Just start.

⚠️ DE PATRIOTS PORTFOLIO STANDARD WARNING

Bredren and sister, Patriots Portfolio is not a licensed financial advisor. Nothin’ in dis column is investment advice. Patriots Portfolio is a satirical column dat make observations about de Guyanese investment landscape.

If you make money based on Patriots Portfolio observations, good for you — buy Patriots Portfolio a beer.

If you lose money based on Patriots Portfolio observations, dat is on you — Patriots Portfolio offered no guarantees, made no promises, and specifically warned you dat dis is satire.

Patriots Portfolio also reminds you: All investment carries risk. Land titles can be contested. Hotel bookings can collapse. Pipes can take 14 years. Plan accordingly.

📊 PATRIOTS PORTFOLIO SIGNIN’ OFF

Dat’s de Tuesday catch-up. Friday’s edition will look at de stock market in detail, de remittance economy, and why de coconut oil people from Pomeroon are quietly buildin’ a regional brand.

Til Friday — keep your money close, your title deeds closer, and your skepticism especially close.

Patriots Portfolio — out.

Patriots Portfolio is a satirical investment column for de Guyanese investor. Caribbean + Africa, for de diaspora. None of dis is financial advice. All of dis is observation. If you got real money to invest, see a real licensed advisor. If you got jokes to make about de Wales pipe — Patriots Portfolio will see you on Friday.
