Approved or Disbursed This Week

Cabinet approves $26M allocation for Guyana School of Agriculture quarters. Per Kaieteur News (April 28, 2026), Cabinet has approved a $26 million allocation to upgrade student living quarters at the Guyana School of Agriculture. Construction is expected within the quarter.

Cabinet ministerial tour of the ONE GUYANA FPSO completed (April 17). Five Cabinet ministers — Bharrat (Natural Resources), Walrond (Home Affairs), Indar (Public Utilities), Griffith (Labour), and Todd (Foreign Affairs) — toured the ONE GUYANA Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel, which currently produces 250,000+ barrels per day in the Stabroek Block. Tour facilitated by the Ministry of Natural Resources in coordination with ExxonMobil Guyana (Kaieteur News, April 28, 2026). No new construction or program announcement resulted.

Guyana Olympic Association cash grants disbursed. The GOA has issued cash training grants to medal-winners from the South American Youth Games in Panama (Kaieteur News and Newsroom Guyana, April 28, 2026).


Tendered or Launched This Week

Pouderoyen and Buxton markets — contractors sought. The Government has issued a call for contractors to construct markets at Pouderoyen and Buxton (Kaieteur News, April 28, 2026). Tender stage; construction not yet commenced.

Bamboo plantin’ project — Guyana Forestry Commission. The GFC has commenced “Piloting Bamboo for Restoration & Sustainable” land use, a multi-year ecological restoration program (Newsroom Guyana, April 28, 2026). Plantin’ has begun.

Brackish-water shrimp project, Region 2. Aquaculture diversification project launched in Region 2 (Pomeroon-Supenaam) (Newsroom Guyana, April 28, 2026). First production cycle pending.


Long-Term Tracked

Wales gas-to-energy project. Currently in year five. The contractor’s history (FBI raids, severed banking ties, shell companies) was reported by Kaieteur News on April 27, 2026. A US$80M arbitration settlement was paid by the Government in 2025 (Kaieteur News, April 3, 2026). Construction status: ongoing.

Soesdyke-Linden Highway upgrade. Sections complete; sections still incomplete. A recent fatal motorcycle-and-lorry collision was reported (Associates Times). Comprehensive completion timeline not yet published.

Linden-Lethem Road. Construction equipment that had been idle is now active on critical sections. Bridge work has restarted. Brazilian commercial interest in Region 9 is increasing in anticipation of completion. Patriots Portfolio (April 28, 2026) flagged this as a 24–36 month horizon.

CARICOM expansion (Martinique). Newsroom Guyana (April 28, 2026) reported Martinique is in active conversation about CARICOM membership; French Guiana is considering similar. No timeline confirmed.
