DOMFESTA opens the cultural calendar as Paradise Valley hosts Jazz 'n Arts

Dominica's flagship cultural festival kicks off as Paradise Valley hosts a marquee jazz event. Plus: tourism strategy adjustments and a high-profile Caribbean visit that pulled the global feed.

DOMFESTA 2026, the country’s flagship cultural festival, has rolled out its full schedule of performance, visual-arts and literary events for the month. The festival anchors the spring cultural calendar and feeds into the broader run of Creole-music programming that defines Dominica’s tourism positioning through the second half of the year.

In Paradise Valley, the Jazz ’n Arts Festival drew strong weekend attendance and continues this week. Organisers describe the format — intimate venues, valley acoustics, regional headliners — as the platform for a longer-arc rebuild of Dominica’s music tourism after recent infrastructure losses.

On the tourism numbers, recent regional analysis flagged Dominica among the destinations recording softer US arrivals through 2025. The Ministry has signalled a shift toward longer-haul markets, dive and eco-product positioning, and improved direct-route partnerships through the rest of 2026.

In digital culture, Dominica drew global feed coverage when streaming personality IShowSpeed touched down on the island as part of a Caribbean tour. Tourism officials moved quickly to leverage the visit through partnership content, in line with the broader CTO strategy of pairing organic creator visits with destination programming.
