Saint Lucia Hosts CARICOM Summit as PM Pierre Takes the Chair
Saint Lucia is hosting the 51st Regular Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government in Gros Islet from July 5 to 8, with Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre chairing the bloc after assuming its rotating chairmanship on July 1. Leaders are expected to address regional security, climate resilience, economic integration and the situation in Haiti.
Pierre has argued that integration must be felt in citizens’ daily lives to endure. For the Saint Lucian diaspora, the summit puts the island at the centre of regional decision-making and the tourism spotlight this week.
