Saint Lucia readies Gros Islet to host CARICOM leaders July 5

Saint Lucia is preparing to host the 51st Regular Meeting of the CARICOM Conference of Heads of Government in Gros Islet from July 5 to 8, with Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre chairing and the Secretariat already standing up an online platform for the summit. The agenda is expected to run across regional security, crime, trade and development financing at a moment when several member states are navigating tighter US visa and citizenship scrutiny. For the diaspora, the meeting is the single most consequential regional event on the near calendar, and Saint Lucia’s turn in the chair gives it the host’s hand in shaping it.
