St Vincent's Fishers and Operators Tap OECS Blue-Economy Grants

1 min read

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is one of the countries where a regional blue-economy programme is providing matching grants, training and financing support to ocean-dependent small businesses — fishers investing in climate-smart equipment, tour operators shifting to lower-impact models, and waste-to-value ventures. The aim is to build a more resilient marine economy from the ground up.

For the diaspora, the practical angle is the same as in neighbouring islands: there is concrete co-funding available for relatives working on or near the water. The useful step is to confirm current application windows and criteria through national and OECS channels. With the wet season opening, support that helps small operators weather disruptions and protect their gear is especially timely.
