Who we are

Tradewinds Brief Services are delivered by Hatchling Media, an independent publishing studio that produces and publishes its own books. We built these services around the problems we meet in our own publishing: manuscripts that pass proofreading but still carry file errors, and retailer listings that undersell the book.

Tradewinds Brief began as an independent publication. Its earlier reporting remains available in the archive.

How the work is done

• Hands-on, every time. Albert Massay, an independent author and publisher, works on every project himself. He reads your book where the work requires it, checks every finding against your manuscript, and approves each deliverable before it is sent.
• Tools and AI, under his direction. He uses purpose-built checking tools and AI (Anthropic’s Claude), set up and directed the same way he uses them on his own books. AI speeds up the checking; it does not decide what you receive.
• Defined checks. The Manuscript Integrity Audit runs the same documented checks on every file. The report states what was examined, what was not, and which checks are outside its scope.
• Why not just use AI yourself? You can. What you get here is tooling built for manuscripts, every result checked against your actual book, and a publisher’s judgment on what matters and what does not. The terms explain exactly how your files are handled.

What we promise, and what we do not

• You keep all rights to your work. We never publish, sell or reuse it, and we never submit it to a retailer or publisher.
• We never ask for your retailer, bank or email passwords.
• A service improves your materials. It does not guarantee an error-free book, sales, rankings, retailer approval or publication.
• Buying a service never makes us more or less likely to publish or acquire your work.
