The region's leaders meet in Saint Lucia in July — with the energy crisis on the table

CARICOM confirmed that the 51st Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government will convene in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia, from 5–8 July, with Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre taking the rotating chair on 1 July. The opening ceremony is set for 5 July at Sandals Saint Lucia and will stream live; a dedicated information hub goes up around 10 June.

The agenda writes itself: a regional energy shock from the Gulf war, the still-unfinished CARICOM Single Market and Economy, deepening ties with Afreximbank and the African continent, and the unresolved debate over the Secretary-General’s reappointment.

What this means for you: Summit communiqués feel remote, but they set the rules on movement, trade and money transfer that shape diaspora life. Read the closing statement on 8 July for anything on free movement, remittance costs, and a coordinated regional response to fuel prices.
