US Slaps Travel Bonds on Three Eastern Caribbean Passports
Antigua, Dominica and Grenada nationals can now be required to post US$5,000-$15,000 bonds for visitor visas — a direct hit to diaspora travel.
Washington’s visa-bond pilot, last updated in May 2026, lets consular officers require eligible B-1/B-2 applicants from Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, and Grenada to post a refundable bond before a visa is issued — and it does not guarantee approval. It compounds earlier cuts to visa validity tied to scrutiny of Caribbean citizenship-by-investment programs. Families planning US trips should budget for the possibility and confirm requirements at interview.
