South Africa Makes Online Traveller Declarations Mandatory for All Arrivals
South Africa has made online traveller declarations mandatory for everyone entering or leaving the country from July 1 through the new South African Traveller Management System, replacing paper customs forms. The requirement applies to citizens, permanent residents and foreign nationals, with transit passengers who stay in designated areas exempt.
Authorities warn that failing to declare or providing false information could lead to delays, fines or seizure of goods. For the diaspora travelling to and from South Africa, completing the digital declaration before travel is now an essential step.
