Speedeet & Wilar

Characters

Meet Speedeet, Wilar, and the world that surrounds them.

Speedeet

The schemer. The one with the plan. The one who can talk anyone into anything within thirty seconds, including himself.

If there is a mango tree, Speedeet will figure out how to get the mango. If there is a wall, Speedeet will figure out how to get over it. If there is a grown-up walking by, Speedeet will figure out how to look innocent.

He is loyal, sharp, and almost always right about the plan working — until the moment it doesn’t.

Wilar

The conscience. The brake pedal. The voice that says “yuh sure dis going work?” exactly two seconds before everything stops working.

Wilar goes along because Speedeet is his friend, not because he believes the plan. He is the one who notices the dog. He is the one who hears the grown-up coming. He is the one who, somehow, manages to talk them both out of trouble afterward.

The Grown-Ups

The shopkeepers. The aunties. The teachers. The man with the iguana. Mr. Chan. Miss Beverley. The neighborhood is full of grown-ups who know exactly what Speedeet and Wilar are up to, and let them learn the hard way more often than not.
