West Indies crushed Sri Lanka by an innings and 217 runs inside four days at North Sound to take a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series, posting 626 for 9 declared before dismissing the visitors for 308 and 101. The win was Roston Chase’s first as Test captain, set up by his world-record sixth-wicket stand with Tevin Imlach (Jangoo), while veteran fast bowler Kemar Roach became the fifth West Indian to reach 300 Test wickets. For a side long anchored at the bottom of the World Test Championship table, the result offered a rare and emphatic lift before the second Test, also in North Sound from July 3.
