Argyle Airport suspends night flights as Vincentian NASCAR driver Caruth named tourism ambassador

Argyle International Airport (AIA) has suspended night flights through Friday after a technical issue affecting the runway lighting system was detected, AIA confirmed via iWitness News. The airport described the suspension as a precautionary safety measure with day operations unaffected.

In a higher-altitude story, NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series rising star Rajah Caruth — who has Vincentian roots — has been officially signed as brand ambassador for the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA). The partnership delivers exactly the kind of diaspora-pride amplification the SVGTA has been openly chasing.

Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines also wrapped its 2026 “Welcome Home Week” under the theme “Caribbean Roots and Rhythm,” delivering an immersive Vincentian-culture programme aimed squarely at returning diaspora travellers.

For the diaspora: if you have a return-leg booking through AIA before Friday, confirm the timing. Night-flight suspensions almost always ripple into morning schedules. The Caruth ambassadorship is the kind of long-tail tourism story to keep watching through the NASCAR season.
